Our Workshop

Our workshop is on the corner of Elm Street and Morrill Street, just behind the Cumberland Farms located at 132 Elm Street.

Parking is available in the lot located just behind the Cumberland Farms store. 

Our business mailing address (for most shipments, letters, payments, and other correspondence is located at: 8 Gifford Road, South Hamilton, MA 01982. The building where our physical workshop is located is at: 11 Chestnut Street, Amesbury, Massachusetts, 01913 and is part of the Collaborative Innovation Works (CI Works). We welcome customers and other visitors to stop by and see our busy wood and metal working shop and all the door projects currently in play and ready to go out for installation. Our facility is not a show room right now, but you get to see the real hands-on, down and dirty work first hand and that’s part of the fun of it all! If you like olde wood and metal, and the world of tinkering with parts and ideas, it’s a great spot to see! It is best to do so by making an appointment by contacting The Barndoorist at 781-439-2874. Sometimes we are running saws so please text or leave a voicemail so we can get right back to you.

When we know you are coming we will unlock the large street facing doors. Shop visits are generally limited to 90 minutes and should be completed before 6pm whenever possible as we all have families too. Kindly avoid bringing kids or pets into the shop as there are boards, nails, sharp metal parts and tools everywhere. This is an industrial setting so by visiting, you agree to be careful, please. Sometimes equipment and olde wood is being moved. Production slows when we have a visitor so while a lot can get accomplished with a visit to us, it is also beneficial for us to visit you with wood and part samples to show you while measuring your space as this is often a more efficient use of time. Of course we may wish to give you a tour of the facility to see doors we have hung up and to meet other crafts people at the warehouse. For customers coming from further away we will make special arrangements wherever possible and we can certainly recommend places to eat, enjoy drinks by the water, and the like when you are in our area! In some cases, The Barndoorist can also meet you half way if you are far away and wish to have a look at samples and parts for your barn door needs or samples can be mailed to you too.

Look for a small Northshore Barn Doors sign just off Morrill Street on the corner of the red brick warehouse. Be sure to let The Barndoorist know you are coming as sometimes the warehouse is locked unless visitors are expected. We share our space with other companies. We can open the large drive-in/walk-in doors on Morrill Street which lead directly into the shop to let you in via street access. You could come in the building from other entrances and find us too.

(Note: Amesbury has two Cumberland Farms stores. Our shop is behind the ELM STREET one). Also note that there are other streets and roads called “Merrill” so watch your speak text/Siri/predictive text!

To drive to us, if traveling on Rte 95, Exit 88b for Macy Street/Rte 110 (Formerly exit 58b). Turn at Elm Street and follow 1.3 miles to Morrill Street.

If Elm Street construction is still ongoing (has been for a year now) then you may have to travel further on Rte 110 passing the Stop & Shop plaza and head into Amesbury and loop around. To do this you could Google Naples Pizza and then re Google to Morrill Street from there.

If traveling on Rte 495, use Exit 118 (formerly exit 54) for Sparhawk Street/Rte 150 and follow this into Amesbury. Connect with Main Street and Google further to Morrill Street.
